GRAPHIC DESIGNER

*full-time salaried in-house position*

  • Experience Level: 10–12 years
  • Location: Manhattan (mandatory hybrid environment with 4 days/week in-office)
  • Base Salary: $150,000 - $190,000 (+ annual discretionary bonus)

Our client, a financial services company, is hiring for a conceptual designer who thrives on turning complex, abstract ideas into bold, memorable visuals. In this role, you’ll collaborate with colleagues in trading, research, and technology—people with deep expertise in mathematics and science who may have bold ideas but no clear visual direction. Your task will be to translate those complex, abstract concepts into striking and thoughtful designs across digital and physical platforms.

What You’ll Do

  • Conceptualize and design assets for websites, brochures, social media, internal/in-office installations, booths, and apparel (including a beloved line of mathematically inspired T-shirts).

  • Take abstract ideas from trading, research, and other subject-matter experts and transform them into compelling visuals. (Example: “We want a T-shirt that represents machine learning”—you’ll make that idea tangible.)

  • Collaborate directly with employees across the organization, running Q&A sessions to uncover the essence of complex concepts.

  • Balance creative vision with practical design needs, managing multiple projects from ideation through execution.

  • Maintain consistency in visual identity while experimenting with fresh approaches to storytelling and design.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10–12 years of experience as a graphic designer with a strong conceptual portfolio.

  • Proven ability to distill complex or abstract ideas—especially mathematical, scientific, or technical—into engaging, understandable visuals.

  • Versatility across mediums: digital, print, environmental, and apparel.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Google Suite (Slides, Docs).

  • Excellent taste and a sharp eye for detail; illustration skills are a plus.

  • Comfort with iteration, feedback, and problem-solving.

  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working with non-creatives to uncover design direction

Why This Role

This is not a typical in-house design job. Every project is an opportunity to push boundaries, whether you’re reimagining a recruiting booth, designing a piece of wearable art, or finding a way to visually capture an abstract mathematical model. You’ll join a team that values creativity, intellectual curiosity, and design excellence—and you’ll help bring ideas to life in ways that inspire both colleagues and external audiences.

Make sure to upload your resume with a link to your portfolio. Submissions without both a resume AND portfolio will not be considered.
