Have you done your time in large, process driven communications agencies and want to try something completely different? Or perhaps you’ve worked in small or medium size agencies and want to set up on your own one day, so the idea of seeing first hand how it’s done appeals? This start up PR agency is over a year old and looking for someone to join the team and be part of its growth and success.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for more autonomy and is interested in joining a start-up PR/communications agency at an early stage and reaping the benefits of helping them to grow.

The Agency

The founder of this agency was encouraged and financially backed by her previous agency to set up on her own due to her talent and passion for the industry. Fast-forward about a year and the agency has got off to a great start with an array of eclectic clients, plenty of new business in the pipeline and plans to grow to 5 people by the end of the year. 

The work is heavily consumer focused and they also provide digital, social media/content and SEO. Clients are an eclectic mix - a start up competitor to Purple Bricks, a sportswear and an activewear brand and an erotic retailer that also works as a charity/counselling service to patients referred by the NHS. A real variety!

Culture wise they are centrally based in a WeWork type office with all the benefits that that entails, company drinks, breakfasts, private healthcare and a general relaxed environment. The Founder happily supports working from home and flexible hours – as long as you are managing your workload then there’s a lot of freedom.

In addition to running the agency and pitching for business, the founder also speaks and delivers training at various conferences for PR, SEO and digital/content so there’s huge opportunity to learn first hand from someone talented – something you don’t necessarily get at many agencies.

The Role – Account Director/Senior Account Director - Consumer PR 

The level/job title is flexible to an extent, what’s important is someone that’s entrepreneurial and can manage clients/deliver. You’ll be involved in new business however that’s primarily led by the founder so whilst you can be as involved as you like, it’s not essential if you’d prefer to focus on client work and organic growth.

Currently the team is supported by freelancers, however once this person is in place there is the intention to hire more permanent junior support, with an aim of being five permanent members of staff by the end of this year.

About You:

  • We will look at anyone from SAM to SAD level for this role
  • A background gained in a communications agency across a broad mix of consumer clients
  • Entrepreneurial minded and likes the idea of working for a start up
  • A self starter and able to work independently when the founder is out of the office
  • Strong on project management, delivery and client management
  • Hands on – as this is a start up you’ll need to be OK with being more hands on than in a larger agency whilst they are growing
