The Role

This leading sustainability NGO is looking for a Communications Manager, exclusively with Capstone Hill Search.

The primary role of the NGO is to drive global business action on climate change. This role would suit someone who is both passionate about the power of integrated communications to achieve real-world change with an ability to be strategic and/or tactical in delivering that.

We are looking for someone not only with experience of sustainability communications but also in transport, as this is the area of focus for this particular role as it sits in the wider sustainability team.  This role will encompass:

  • International growth of the NGO’s transport campaigns through effective and efficient external communications

  • Promotion of global influencing campaigns within the transport sector with a focus and drive on zero emission vehicles

  • The ability to identify and develop opportunities in the transport space

You would also be required to:

  • Generate and communicate compelling stories and thought leadership pieces that promote our campaigns and activities, working with member companies and colleagues as appropriate.

  • Deliver innovative communications approaches and the right messaging, at the right time, in the most effective way to support and deliver the aims of our key initiatives.

  • Ensure that the team leverages and builds the reputation of the NGO as a whole by implementing the brand strategy and identifying opportunities that support all business and wider work as well as deliver on a specific initiative.

  • When regulations allow, attend key events and support senior colleagues on the global stage

About you

This is a strong team and you’ll bring a strong personality to the table whilst being highly motivated by the NGO’s goals both professionally and personally.

Essential:

  • Experience in the transport sector / zero emissions vehicles

  • Proven success in developing and delivering substantial, impactful integrated communications strategies and projects.

  • A creative mind that is constantly seeking new ways to do things to improve the impact, efficiency and effectiveness of everything they do.

  • A dynamic and impactful professional with the ability to drive through ideas, build coalitions and negotiate complex networks.

  • Experience in working across climate issues or experience in other relevant sectors such as renewable energy, transport or industry.  

  • Experience in working with businesses in the private sector as well as NGOs.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of cultural contexts.

  • Able to balance strategic thinking and development with rolling up sleeves and implementing programmes.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a global environment.  Language skills such as French, German, Spanish or Mandarin advantageous.

  • Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and ability to multi-task in order to meet strict timelines and budgets.

  • Commitment to the mission of the Climate Group and our work.
