Our real estate asset management client, a Fortune 500 company, is looking for a DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS to join its fairly new nimble in-house Corporate Communications team to provide day-to-day leadership and hands-on support of the company's internal and external communications with a focus on internal communications to the matrix organization and outside partners.
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a business partner to the Head of Asset Management, while also working closely with Human Resources, Operations, and Corporate Communications teams.
Develop and executive on communications to colleagues and thousands of third party-employed teammates to drive business performance and implement business changes.
Understand economic, investment and financial jargon and know what situations to use it and when to break it down to layman's terms.
Review business information through a communications lens and then determine how and where to communicate it for different audiences.
Help build the company’s communications infrastructure and be an expert on using technology to communicate effectively, including things like formalizing audience segments, building intranets and implementing email tools.
When communications are misunderstood, assess whether the issue is around its messaging vs. its method of communication / tech & tools.
Report into the Head of Communications and manage four direct reports helping them with their career goals and growth as well as project execution.
Oversee adherence of brand guidelines and work with external vendors to ensure consistency
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
10 - 15 years of communications experience, with specific experience private equity, financial services, commercial real estate, institutional investment and a depth of knowledge to speak with subject matter experts inside and outside the company.
General understanding of multi-family real estate and/or real estate investment is strongly preferred.
Understanding of the investment lifecycle, IRR, variable pricing, and how the business plan for assets connects to how they are managed.
Ability to speak financial jargon but also convert to laymen's terms.
Business operations acumen, equally proficient with performance and financial-related information as with HR and people content.
Strong experience implementing and building, in tandem with development teams and vendors, technologies to streamline and make communications more cohesive, this could include but is not limited to CRM, intranet, etc.
Analytical mindset that can connect the dots while making inferences from the information provided to assess if and how processes are working and propose solutions if needed.
Robust in-house and/or agency (mixture of both is ideal) corporate communications experience including employee and executive communications; it would be ideal if you have helped build or scale a comms team.
Experience developing and owning communications regarding change management, executive thought leadership, business performance, and new technology processes.
Gravitas to know when to ask questions and when to find the answers on your own. You aren’t arrogant in your knowledge but understand how valuable a senior leader’s time is.
Exceptional executive presence, including experience supporting senior business leaders with communications.

Location: Remote or hybrid pending candidate location
Salary Range: $189,000 - $260,000
