Director of Communications

Fully Remote – must be based in NYC

Our real estate asset management client, a Fortune 500 company, is looking for a Director of Communications to join its IN-HOUSE Corporate Communications team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support preparation of materials for key announcements, launches, and media initiatives – including press releases, talking points, Q&As, etc.
  • Think and operate strategically, assisting in the development of targeted and deliberate communications plans.
  • Help develop communication materials for members of the leadership team, including newsletters, talking points, Q&As, etc.
  • Prepare responses to formal correspondence from a range of audiences.
  • Take turns with media monitoring duties, including alternating evening and weekends.
  • Assist with crisis response/issues management; ideally you learn skills in this area to develop ownership of some issues.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required (discipline agnostic if you can demonstrate a passion for storytelling, communications, and sharp critical analysis skills.)
  • Eight to ten years’ experience in a fast-paced, corporate environment.
  • Experience in any of the following is helpful but not required: government/political campaigns, private equity, financial services, or commercial real estate.
  • Exceptional executive presence, including experience supporting senior business leaders with communications.
  • Truly outstanding writing and multimedia storytelling skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a passion for reader/consumer experience.
  • Knowledge of social media, digital engagement, and strategic best practices for communications, reader engagement, and user experience.
  • Helpful if you have photography/videography/content creation experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office; helpful if you have experience with Adobe Creative Cloud apps.
